Summary


The Structural Ceramics and Refractories Group at the University of Sheffield is looking to recruit a research associate to undertake an EPSRC-funded project on next generation carbon-containing refractories reinforced by in-situ nanotubes / nanowhiskers.
This project is a joint collaboration between University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham and several industrial companies.


Candidates should hold an excellent first degree in materials, chemistry or physics. They must also have a PhD in materials science, chemistry or closely related subjects as well as hands-on experience in the processing, microstructural characterisation and mechanical testing of ceramics materials. Knowledge of Carbon Chemistry, Nanomaterials, Catalysts, Refractories or Steelmaking will be an advantage.
